Umm... the current digital patterns DO work.
ReplyDeleteReally? You wear those in the woods and guess what; I can see you.

I think the camo/uniforms we've got is pretty good for all around use. Put all the gear on and you will stick out like sore thumb. It doesn't matter what you wear, if you are moving you'll be seen no matter what. If you are in a stationary position, whether it be in a defensive or offensive posture, a properly trained individaual knows to seek cover and concealment and to break up outlines. I've put on desert MARPAT and laid on a pile of broken concrete and had Marines walk right by. I've also sat with my back against a tree in Woodland MARPAT and had other hunters walk close enough to spit on and remain unnoticed. Camoflauge takes practice and discipline. You can't just put on camo and think you are invisable. Our SF guys know to camo up and wear camo that works with terrain that mission dictates. Standard ground units usually concentrate on masking movement with proper planning and rather than individual camo.

ReplyDeleteLet me clarify; the Army's digital pattern is the one I'm talking about (well, that and the AF's goofy tiger stripes). I have no issue with the Marine desert/woodland digital patterns... They actually work.
