Link of the Day

And this is why you should not only arm yourself but become proficient with your arms.

"I think the problem is that the poor children, keep in mind it's 42% of poor children who live at or near poverty, it's 25% in poverty. Our audience needs to keep that in mind." Cornel West said on MSNBC this afternoon.

"Poor children need more than just a $1,000 for their family, they need a war against poverty to make it a major priority in the way which we have a priority for Afghanistan, and a priority to bail out banks, and a priority to defend corporate interests when it comes to environmental issues," West said about more and new entitlements for the poor.

Professor West didn't just call for another war on poverty (the first war was fought by Lyndon B. Johnson), but went on to say that the push for more entitlements "is going to be fought in the streets." West showered the Occupy movement with praise for making people aware of the issue.

"It's a major question of priorities here. That's why the Occupy movement is so important because some of this is going to be fought in the streets. Civil disobedience does make a difference," he said.

"Corporate greed now is an issue everybody has got to talk about. Wealth inequality. Everybody must talk about it because of the Occupy movement," Mr. West concluded.

"I think brother West, I think he does make a good point," Goldie Taylor said.

  1. I have three kids and live at or near the poverty level because I have chosen to stay home with them to raise them into people of good moral character. To do this, I rely heavily on resale shops and coupons to be able to afford what we need and I have become an expert at pinching a penny. My husband owns his own biz and works hard. Sometimes there is more money and those are the times we catch up from when there is less money. I do not feel entitled to other people's money. I had a big argument with my mother in law over thanksgiving about this. My cell phone broke in August and I still need to replace it. She was telling me that I am "entitled" to a cell phone that the government will pay for. How am I entitled to this? A cell phone is a luxury not a necessity and the government should NOT pay people's cell phone bills. That is the problem with America right now. My husband has a really hard time finding a helper for his business because everyone he hires either can't make it to work on time, or has a drinking or drug problem. The last one stole from us. If I need more money than what I have I will get a job, they are out there. People really need to stop expecting a handout from everyone and start being responsible for their own actions. The occupy movement is a tool of the failed obama administration. It is an attempt to solidify class warfare in order to manufacture some crisis he can take advantage of in order to garner more votes than he could otherwise get. These people are pawns to something a lot greedier than wallstreet and they don't even know it.

  2. Thank you for your words of encouragement. God bless you and your family.

  3. This professor is a liberal idiot pisswit. If the "occupy" bunch takes to the streets against those of us that are armed and trained, who does he think is going to win? A bunch of lazy do nothings?
